Rickey Yada is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Land and Food Systems, and Professor of Food Science at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, British Columbia (Oct. 2014), Canada.
Prior to his appointment at UBC, he was a Professor in the Department of Food Science, Chair of the Department of Food Science, Assistant Vice President Research, a Canada Research Chair in Food Protein Structure, the Scientific Director of the Food Institute at the University of Guelph and the Vice Chair of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Institute of Nutrition, Metabolism and Diabetes.
Among other activities, he is presently the Scientific Director of the Advanced Foods and Materials Canada Network, the President of the International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST), Member of the Board of Trustees International Life Science Institute – North America, is the North American Editor for Trends in Food Science and Technology, and is on the editorial boards for several journals.
He is the author of over 200 refereed journal publications and several book chapters. Dr. Yada is a Past President and Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology, as well as being a Fellow of the International Academy of IUFoST and the Institute of Food Technologists.
